Hi, my name's Dergie and i'm here to help you have a super holiday on Lough Derg, in Ireland's Shannon Region.
Im a keen angler and love to go fishing on Lough Derg. This section has loads of information on angling packages, operators and where to fish. These are in the links to the left.
Have fun and good luck with the fishing.
The beauty of Lough Derg from an angling viewpoint is that, wherever you go, you will experience a distinct and well-established local fishery. Each centre has a long tradition of catering for the special needs of visiting anglers.
All around the lake, there are many fine fishing centres around towns and villages such as Killaloe/Ballina in Lough Derg South; Scarriff, Mountshannon and Whitegate in Lough Derg West; Portumna, Terryglass and Kilgarvan in Lough Derg North; and Dromineer and Garrykennedy in Lough Derg East.
At these centres and other places in their hinterland, you will find a wide range of facilities and services that allow for all types and experience levels of angler to be catered for.
You have comfortable accommodation, with many providers offering storage space and facilities for rods, tackle, bait (and wet clothes).
Locally, you will also find excellent angling services on your doorstep, including bait stockists for coarse fishing, tackle, guides and up-to-date angling information – not forgetting great music and entertainment!
Most waters are easily accessible; where natural swims are cleared; fishing stands, stiles and footbridges erected, and mooring facilities provided.
Angling on the lake is mainly by boat and there are extensive boat hire facilities available.
