Numerous spots around the lake shore are ideal for angling from the shore and, of course, boats can be hired at locations all along Lough Derg. The lake is very accessible by several slipways and there are many sheltered harbours and marinas dotted around its shores.
Fine angling opportunities also exist in the stretch of the River Shannon running from Killaloe/Ballina to Limerick City, particularly at Castleconnell, and upstream on the River Shannon to centres such as Banagher and Shannonbridge, Co. Offaly.
