Dragon Boat Racing
The sport of Dragon Boat Racing originated in China many centuries ago. The 40 foot long canoe style boats have ornamental dragon heads at the bow and dragon tails at the stern. These boats can seat up to 20 paddlers, a helm to steer the boat and a drummer at the front to beat to the rhythm of the paddlers. This activity is suitable for complete beginners and all that is required is some team spirit and a good set of lungs. The University of Limerick www.ulac.ie can cater for Dragon Boat enthusiasts.
