Ballinderry/Kilgarvan Quay

This attractive village in North Tipperary in the north eastern part of the lake has a number of new and old commercial buildings and a well presented cluster of houses. There is an impressive, large all-metal mill wheel and derelict mill adjacent to the village. The water wheel once powered an important distillery.

The village projects an image of peace and tranquility – relax and take in the beauty on the inviting seating provided throughout the village. Take time also to spot the many features of wildlife on the river bank.

The centre of Ballinderry is only 3.2km (2ml) from pretty Kilgarvan Quay, a popular visitor destination. Kilgarvan boasts an excellent restaurant named Brocka on the Water (See A Taste of the Waterways) and pubs with great atmosphere, music and food. This is an area of unspoiled beauty, ideal for a pleasant drive or cycle.
