The golfing enthusiast has plenty to choose from by way of excellent courses in the vicinity of picturesque Lough Derg.
What better way to experience and enjoy the beautiful landscape around idyllic Lough Derg than to traverse the tree-lined fairways, embellished with water and other hazards, and take in the spectacular greenery all around you?
Whether you fancy a relaxing game or a sterner test of skill, there are seven fine 18-hole courses within easy reach, each featuring its own distinct character and challenge.
The courses at Portumna, Nenagh, East Clare (Bodyke), Rathbane (Limerick City), Limerick County (Ballyneety, Limerick) Roscrea and Birr are uncrowded and welcome visitors, with very reasonable green fees in operation.
There are 9-hole courses, at Woodpark (near Mountshannon) and Oldcourt in Co Galway as well as driving ranges at Birr Driving Centre and Limerick which offer other options for teeing off.
