Limerick City Museum

A visit to Limerick Museum is well worthwhile in order to gain an insight into the city’s colourful history and evolution down through the years.

The museum is now named the Jim Kemmy Municipal Museum, in memory of the late Limerick Mayor, T.D. and historian of that name.

The museum features a comprehensive display of over 30,000 items, which illustrates the long and varied history of Limerick City and its surrounding area. It’s an award-winning centre.

The collection includes civic antiquities, artefacts from the Stone, Bronze and Mediaeval Ages, fascinating examples of Limerick lace and silver from the 18th and 19th centuries, a trades’ history display and a currency display.
