This drive starts out in Limerick city and heads eastwards to incorporate some of the major tourist attractions and scenic areas of County Tipperary, the county which borders Lough Derg to the east.
It will take to locations such as the beautiful Clare Glens and Slieve Felim mountains, Nenagh, the county’s capital town, Thurles, Cashel (with its famous Rock), Caher and Tipperary Town before heading back to Limerick.
Of course, it’s possible to start your journey anywhere along the route, e.g. in Nenagh if you are in that area or accessing the Lough Derg Region off the main N7 Dublin – Limerick road.
Distances: Limerick to Clare Glens 29km (18ml); Clare Glens to Nenagh 32km (20ml); Nenagh to Thurles 47km (29ml); Thurles to Cashel 21km (13ml); Cashel to Caher 18km (11ml); Caher to Tipperary 13km (8ml); Tipperary to Limerick 27km (17ml). Total round trip: 187 kms (116ml).
