Clonfert Cathedral, Co. Galway

Clonfert Cathedral, close to the River Shannon and Shannonbridge, is traditionally believed to be the final resting place for the great navigator, St. Brendan. His remains are purported to have been brought here from his sister’s convent in Annaghdown, where he died around 580.

Today, the Cathedral is in use as a Church of Ireland Parish Church. For further information www.galwayeast.com
